Went with the camp to a local pottery painting place. The kids had all made creations the week before and they got to paint their items and have them fired in the kiln. It was fun to go around taking pictures of them and their concentrated faces.

Took this as the Boston Pride parade finished up. It was sort of a rainy gloomy day, but that didn't put a damper on the festivities. I'm not in love with this shot, but I like how Kings Chapel is in the background - a location that has likely seen many historical events and changes during its 250 year history!

This was the 25th anniversay of the Scooper Bowl - an all you can eat ice cream event to benefit the Jimmy Fund. I recruited my brother and two others to join me and we managed to plow our way through quite a bit of ice cream (as evidenced by the cups we went through) before feeling as though we were going to die. As my brother Christopher put it "one could turn diabetic in an afternoon at this event!"

Snapped this one off of the balcony of 539 Commercial Street in Provincetown - aka the condo that is two miles away, but worth the walk at least once, maybe twice. It was more striking in person, but all I had was my little point and shoot, and a quick second to take the picture before the sun sank behind the trees.

Becca, my parents and I went to the Boston Pops for Boston College night. I really enjoyed the show as they did "A Tribute to Oscar and Tony" and played a whole night of showtunes. Highlights were the overature from The Sound of Music and the MBTA song with video accompanyment. All night though we could see balloons being held near the ceiling -finally at the end of the night thy let them go - much to my mothers delight - she had alot of fun popping them!

There was a beautiful garden in someones front yard, and I set my camera to macro and shot this blindly as I didn't want to step into the garden to take then shot. I love the way it turned out, especially the colors of the flower.

This was taken at the Back Bay Upper Crust. If you haven't tried Upper Crust pizza here in Boston, I highly reccomend it. Most pizza in Boston is plain bad (growing up in NJ I'm used to good NY pizza) but Upper Crust makes the cut.

I just snapped this one as I walked through the Alumni Stadium on my way to class one day. Who knew BC had thier own ice cream thingys. Notice the super-imposed eagle. I was impressed. I guess when you're an ACC school you get this kind of support for your concession stand.

I took a bunch of shots of runners, but the picture was the most appealing to me. Becca and I went to the Red Sox game [thanks Laura!] and then walked up Beacon Street to watch the marathon on our way home. The marathon was awesome. If I didn't hate running, I would run it next year. I did cheer for lots of people however, and will hopefully do so again next year.

We went to the North Shore to check out locations for our wedding, and ended up wandering around Stage Fort park and taking a a bunch of pictures. Becca and I - along with our friends Kyle and Kim went to the PawSox (the Red Sox AAA affiliate) game in Pawtucket, RI on Friday night. It sure was cold, but luckily the non stop rain we've been getting stopped long enough for them to get the game in. The Sox lost, but that made Kim and Becca (Yankees fans) happy as they were playing the SWB Yankees. It was the PawSox opening night and I think they were still working out the kinks as buying a hot dog took over half an hour, and the cracker jack man had to be hunted down, but overall, a good time was had by everyone.

I've found now that I've been snapping away with the Rebel I've uploaded SO many pictures to flickr that photo management is becoming an issue. I'll have to be better at "organizing" them some how.

On to the picture. It was SO gross and rainy at BC on Thursday. I protected myself and my camera with the libraries roof and took this one of a BC professor (my assumption) scurrying somewhere while trying to stay dry. I had hoped to catch a shot of the masses between classes, but I myself had to get to class and couldn't hang around that long.

Continuing with the theme of Disney movies, the title of this one comes from Babmi when the skunk, flower, comments on the flowers. I took these with my new camera (Rebel Xti) which I LOVE. I went out snapping shots for the afternoon. There were so many pretty flowers up - too bad the weather hasn't gotten the hint that it's supposed to warm up.

This is an homage to both the movie Toy Story and my fruit snacks. I was eating my toy story fruit snacks in the library, and found my little foil package to be abundant with the little green aliens (from the scene with the big claw). Though the aliens were resistent to standing, I was able to get them all upright simultaneously for just long enough to take this picture. The, I promptly ate the one that kept falling over....and all of his friends.

This is my church at home - St. Lukes where I attended Easter Sunday services with my mom and brother. My dad is an Episcopalian priest, so he was doing services at his own church (not the one we grew up attending). During the service the light was really shining through the stained glass, but I like how the lighting here highlights the cross. The flowers that lined the altar near the choir stalls were beatiful as well, but my pictures of them didn't come out quite as nicely!

Saturday I went up to Yale to watch them play (and beat!!!) Princeton in a great lacrosse game. It was a big upset and the first time in forever that Yale has beaten both Princeton and Dartmouth in the same season. I took this picture at the tailgate after the game. Yale Lacrosse tailgates are not your run of the mill grill and hot dog affairs. Though there was everything from sushi to steak, but the cupcakes were the most eye catching thing to take a picture of.

I took the train from Boston to NJ to go home for the easter holiday. I'm not quite sure which bridge this is (though I believe at that point in the trip it was going over the East River). I kept shooting out of the train window trying to capture an interesting shot of the lights. I wanted to capture the play of lights and movement, and I think I captured this a little bit with this shot.

Otherwise known as "Old Ironsides" the boat resides in the Naval Yard in Charlestown. It is the oldest commisioned ship still afloat in the world. Becca and I were there looking at locations for our wedding next summer. It was a beautiful day and I was happy to be able to capture a shot or two of the ship. The only way I think it could have been more beautiful is with all the sails raised.

Have you ever seen one of these in your supermarket? It's called a Kiwano. Apparently, the fruit originates from New Zeland but can now be found growing in California as well. I bought it because it looked interesting, but it was much better for photographing than it was for tasting. It tasted like a cross between a kiwi and a cucumber with a bit of tartness thrown in.

This was at the begining of the Yale v. Dartmouth lacrosse game. Since before I played at Yale players have always held hands during the national anthem. Other teams are doing it more and more now, but I think they got the idea from us. I remember I hated being at the front of the line because I felt so exposed!

This is one of my favorite pictures to date for a number of reasons. I went to Yale today (my alma mater) to do a sports psychology session with the lacrosse team (who I played for back in the day). Afterwards I went back to the office and hung out with the coaches. I spent so much time in this office back in the day that it still feels like home to me. Also, I just love how much is going on in the picture and how it represents the life of a coach in season. Not to mention one of my favorite coaches (and friend) who has meant a lot to me over the years is pictured in it.

What happened to my 70 degree weather! It snowed about 8/9 inches in Boston here today (Friday). These icicles were hanging off a car. We used to get the most massive icicles hanging off my front "porch" when I was a kid - almost two feet long! I used to like to break them down and suck on them like they were ice-pops. I'm sure now with acid rain and snow they don't taste quite the same.

I spotted these two swans near the end of my walk - it was amazing, as I started to take pictures of them they sat up and craned their necks almost as if they were posing for me.

The life of a coke can. Most of the cans you see are in ads and look all nice and shiny. This one was lying on the T tracks as I waited to go to school this morning. I'm surprised someone hasn't picked it up yet to get the 5 cent desposit back. Even so, it stood out to me - sort of like a life deconstructed.

We've finally gotten a nice day or two here in Boston after some FREEZING weather last week. I took this one right out of my apartment window. There was some beautiful "sunrise" lighting out of another window, but I couldn't capture it because of all the apartment buildings in the way and because I would have risked life and limb by leaning too far out my window.

Captured this one of a local student who had fallen asleep on the T. I had to turn the flash off (I was afraid of waking him) but I think the lighting in the picture is interesting. I see many people falling asleep on the T - maybe it's the vibration of the train, or possibly that its their first time sitting down all day.

Becca and I got engaged on Wednesday morning (our fourth anniversary)! I had to make sure to take pictures of the rings before they were sent back to the jewlers for resizing. Our fingers were too skinny, especially in the cold! Besides what this picture represents, I love the way the rings look in black and white. It was difficult to capture their brilliance with the camera, but I think this came close.

This picture is what happens when you try and take a picture of palm trees at night. However, once I used iphoto's "enhance" button, it turned out like this, and I thought it looked pretty cool. The trees definitely looked less radioactive in person, but probably not as fun.

This is a fountain near the "El Morro" fort in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Thre were a ton of kids playing in the fountain - enjoying a respite from the heat of the day. I wish I could have captured all their facial expressions, but they were all running too quick for any of that!

I guess to some degree though this is how many BC students see their campus...at about 5:30 am after a night of drinking. Though I guess the sun would be rising in the east and not setting in the west - but that's a minor detail.

This is a laundramat near my apt. It's actually the nice, clean one that we don't use. Today Becca and I did A LOT of shopping. The most notable of it was at the Container Store - where we went for the custom Elfa closets that were on sale. We mostly ended up buying the entire store as they kept us waiting for our closet order to be ready. Somehow we always seem to justify our spending at this store because it means we're becoming "more organized." Somehow, based on the amount we've spent there over the past year I think we must have one of the most organized apartments on the block.

This my neighborhood bar - sort of like Cheers, but I don't think anyone knows my name. I've lived in Boston for what you could call three years before this one, but had only gone to the bar a few times. Thanks to my grad school classmates, I've now become more of a regular, delighting in the bar fare, HD tvs and good company. The outside of the bar is a nice striking red, and seems sophisticated yet welcoming at the same time. I wish this picture were a little clearer, but it was cold outside and I snapped it on my way home to my warm bed!

Tonight I went to the Harvard/Yale women's ice hockey game. As a former Eli, I was really pulling for Yale to win, but unfortunately, the Cantabs were victorious. Yale held a 3-1 lead going into the third period, but ended up losing 4-3 in overtime. I don't think there's anything particularly impressive about this shot, but I love sports photography. I wish I had a super fancy camera with a lens that was about two feet long so that I could capture athletes in action. Maybe one of these days when I win the lottery.

Today SHOULD have been a snowday for me, but I work at one of the only High Schools in the Boston area that actually had school. Happy Valentine's Day to me! The street that the school is one wasn't even plowed, which was somewhat representative of my whole commute. My trip was almost made worth it when I came across this snowman (and his accompanying snow family - dog and penguin) on my ay home. I though that this was a picture perfect snowman, but then I just realized he has no arms, so while having no arms is not a flaw, having no where to put ones mittens is.

I like the way the light is so striking in this picture. I've begun to play around/understand ISO and I can see how this picture has a little bit of graininess or noise. I do really like how defined the right edge of the light looks and how the light [which resides in my living room] is so eye catching.

I captured this on my way out of class tonight. These boats are locked up in the "bowels" of Alumni Stadium at Boston College. I guess they have no where else to store them and they are concerned that if the BC kids (like my brother) get a little rowdy (like when the basketball team plays ACC rival Duke on Wednesday) that they might be tempted to take them out and row them on the nearby Chestnut Hill Resovoir. I just think its funny becase to me it looks like the boats are in jail.

Today I was at the supermarket, with my camera. Disapointed by yesterday's picture, I took lots of pictures of colorful things. I'm still trying to figure out all that my camera can do, but this is the picture I thought turned out best. I didn't buy any of these peppers though, so I can't tell you how they tasted!
